    Good strings

I find the Evah Pirazzi Gold viola set to be a very good all-round string set. It seems to work well on most violas. These are not low tension strings, so if the viola requires lower tension strings such as Dominant or Eudoxa, these will probably not work.
The pros: The strings play in very quickly, within a day or two. Then they are very stable and require little tuning. The sound is very pleasant—not too bright or too dark. It is a strong, clear sound and plays well both ff and pp.
The cons: These strings last about 6 months for me with daily playing. Then they start to no longer respond well in soft passages. Personally, I prefer gut strings (Passione, Oliv, Eudoxa), as I can find more varied tone colors playing on gut strings. Gut strings also last many months longer than the synthetic strings. And modern gut strings, especially the Passione, are almost as stable as the best synthetic strings.
Overall, however, I find the Evah Pirazzi Gold viola strings to be the best synthetic viola strings available.

    Wonderful strings

I decided to try the Evah Gold strings upon the recommendation of a professional colleague.
    I’m very glad I did!
In the past, I used Obligato strings (also Pirastro) and was perfectly happy with them. However, the Evah Gold set is better. Not only does it capture the sound quality of the Obligatos, but requires far less effort to produce a full sound.
I recommend using the full set.

    Not for everyone

Pirastro made a wonderful addition to their line with the Evah Pirazzi Gold strings but it truly is a case of "buyer beware". The strings are of an undeniable high quality but they either will work brilliantly on your instrument or will be a perfect dud. When they work, as I have heard from friends and colleagues who use the Evah Gold, they sound brilliant and are a perfect marriage between brilliance and robustness but when they do not, the strings sound dead and borderline false from day 1. These strings are definitely worth a try but if you can, find a way to try them (get a set from a friend who did not like the strings or who are about to put on a fresh set) so you can see if they will work on your viola. On my 1970 Peresson, they are an utter disaster and after two weeks of going from bad to worse, I finally removed them and gave them to a colleague who wanted to try them. These are well made strings (as is everything which comes out of the Pirastro workshop) but they are either a huge success or a complete failure.

    Eva golds

The Eva Golds are resonant, powerful, and meaty. I think they are a big improvement over regular Eva's on my viola.

    Prefer the regular Eva Pirazzi

The A string was really false when I got the set. For me they are a little too bright, but they might calm down a bit in time.
