I haven't tried the Passione Solo, yet, however I might not ever need to, because these strings are bringing out my violin's true essence. I play a modern fiddle, a 2018 violin by Michael Daddona, and I thought my violin was special BEFORE trying these. Now, I'm floored. The tone is simply marvelous. Yes, they're still settling (tuning them), so get a set when you don't have to perform, and I tried a thinner gauge D string only because I had a feeling my violin might like that based on its own unique characteristics. So, if you want to let you violin "breathe" a bit, try these! If you're unsure about gauge, get 13.5 for the A and D, and the 16.5 for the G, and that's your "medium" gauge. I paired them with a Jargar forte E, my go-to, and I'm loving it. These strings also teach your bow arm important lessons, so give them a try!
