The set pairs these landmark D and G strings with an A wound in precision rolled aluminium flat-wire and an exclusive carbon-steel E. All three core strings are built on Larsen's most advanced synthetic core materials yet, combining strength with sensitivity and exceptional durability. Tension matches the Il Cannone Soloist — higher and stronger than the Medium, ideal for players who demand power and projection.

Tested with excellent results on old Italian and French instruments as well as new violins, Il Cannone Gold suits any instrument capable of carrying a somewhat higher, stronger tension.

Do I need the full set? Larsen recommends fitting both the Gold G and D together, as they reach their full sound potential and playing characteristics when used in combination. The included A and E have been carefully selected to complement them — though you're welcome to experiment with your own E string choice where appropriate.

Do they need playing in? Il Cannone Gold delivers excellent tone and playability immediately upon installation. That said, musicians report that the Gold G and D develop even greater sound modulating character after a few days of use — with deeper expressiveness and a more focused sound emerging as the strings settle.
