Melos Viola Rosin is a hand-crafted rosin made in Thessaloniki, Greece, from natural pine resin and colophony. Produced in small batches, it offers a consistent feel, low dust, and a stable, centered response suited to the viola’s broader tonal range.

Available in Dark and Light formulations, Melos viola rosin allows players to adjust bow response based on climate, instrument setup, and playing style. The two can also be combined to refine grip and articulation.

Formulations

Dark
Provides strong, reliable grip and a full, warm tone, supporting the viola’s lower register. Particularly effective in cooler or drier conditions, and well-suited for ensemble and orchestral playing.

Light
Offers a smoother, lighter response with reduced resistance. Often preferred in warmer conditions or when a more fluid bow feel is desired.

Baroque

Materials and Production

Melos rosin is made from Greek pine-tree resin combined with carefully selected natural ingredients. Each cake is formed entirely by hand, and slight variations in appearance are a natural result of the process.
