Melos Violin Rosin is a hand-crafted rosin made in Thessaloniki, Greece, from natural pine resin and colophony. Produced in small batches by a family-run workshop, it offers a consistent feel, low dust, and a clear, stable response across a wide range of playing conditions.

Available in Dark and Light formulations for violin, Melos rosin allows players to match bow response to climate, instrument setup, and personal preference. Many players also combine the two to fine-tune grip and articulation.

Also available in a smaller Melos Mini Violin Rosin (Light and Dark), ideal for players who prefer to combine formulations.

Formulations

Dark
Provides strong, reliable grip and a full, centered tone. Particularly effective in cooler or drier conditions, it offers consistent traction on the string without excess surface noise. A dependable choice for orchestral playing and general use.

Light
A softer-gripping rosin suited to warmer temperatures or players seeking a smoother, more fluid response. Produces a warm, clean tone with reduced resistance and easy articulation.

Baroque
Available for players using gut strings or historical setups, with a softer attack and controlled response appropriate to lower-tension instruments.

Materials and Production

Melos rosin is made from Greek pine-tree resin combined with carefully selected natural ingredients. Each cake is formed entirely by hand without the use of automated machinery. As a result, slight variations in appearance may occur and are a natural characteristic of the product.

The formulation is designed to perform consistently across different strings, instruments, and climates, while maintaining a clean contact with the string and minimal dust.
