This string was perfect. It had a great dark tone on my viola and just the perfect amounts of crispness. The notes ring clear as a bell and the sound is so alive and vibrant. I had always been looking for a particular sound out of my viola and after trying string upon string I finally found the one that sounds EXACTLY like I've always wanted. The Ball end does fit a little weird in my tailpiece, but nothing bad at all. The string also plays the quietest of pianissimos to the loudest fortissimos and everything in the middle. This string is so sensitive to the lightest touch, and harmonics ring so brilliantly and clearly from it. I would recommend to anyone who doesn't mind a couple of days of tuning, and to anyone who wants a great sound for the price. I've been using Pirastro for years and have only been impressed! I bought the whole set and for once they all blended so well together, I honestly didn't think a single set could ever match so perfectly, but with these beautiful gut strings, they do.! I've only had them for a few weeks, but if they don't last too long I'll just email Pirastro about sending me some free replacements, they're always fantastic about customer service; I'm not too worried about it though. A great string from a great brand, no comparison!
